The Greatest Carpenter

Just over 2000 years ago a son was born to an Israeli carpenter named Joseph.  As was the custom of the time the boy grew up working in the shop of his father.  Not much is known of his early childhood years. He came to the public’s attention about the age of 30.  For the next three years he amazed all who met him and his reputation spread throughout the region.  He became known, not by his prowess with the tools of his trade but by his ability to defy the natural laws of the world.  He stopped a storm simply by commanding it to stop.  He was seen walking on water.  Although there were no remedies available he healed lepers, gave sight to a blind man and on several occasions, raised the dead.  He took a boy’s lunch and fed 5000 people with it.  His claims caused much hope as well as consternation to the citizens of the land.  Here are just a few of these claims.  “I am the light of the world.  I am the bread that came down out of heaven…I am the bread of life.  I and the Father are one.  He who has seen me has seen the Father.  I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me.”

On the day we call Good Friday, this man who was named Jesus, was condemned and executed by crucifixion.  He was placed in a tomb owned by a rich man.  Three days later, on the day called Easter, he raised up alive from the dead and was seen by many people.  Here are his words to all of us today.  “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life!”  John 3:16.  Today would be a great time to put your faith in Jesus Christ!

If you have questions I would love to talk to you.  All the quotes are from the Gospel of John in the New Testament.
